Travel is the movement of people between relatively distant locations. It can involve travel by foot, bicycle, automobile, bus, train, boat, ship, airplane, or other means, with or without luggage, and can be one way or round trip. Travel can also include relatively short stays between successive movements.

Throughout the ages, humans have traveled from one point to another. This was (and still is) especially so in a hunter-gatherer lifestyle.

With the advent of agriculture, almost all people worked on farms and rarely ventured more than a few miles from their homes.

In the modern era, cars and airplanes enable many people to travel to any part of the world.
