New York City is on the east coast of the United States. The city is built on lots of islands and made up of five areas called boroughs. These are Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Manhattan, the most famous borough of New York City.

The borough’s are joined by bridges and tunnels. The most famous bridge is the Brooklyn Bridge. It took 13 years to build. The bridge joins the island of Manhattan with Brooklyn.

For hundreds of years, people coming from all over the world to live in America arrived in New York by boat.

Today many people still travel to work in Manhattan on ferries. Manhattan Island is very crowded and busy.

People from all around the world live in New York. This is Chinatown. Chinatown is a small area on the east side of Manhattan where around 100,000 Chinese immigrants live. It’s a busy and exciting part of the city with many great restaurants and shops.

Central Park is in the center of the city. The park is nearly 150 years old and very large. It’s 341 hectares and there are 9,000 benches you can sit on.

There is so much to see and do in New York City.
