I have a monkey story for you. This is called the “Tomorrow Monkeys”, and part of it, for you guys to help me with. I need you guys to be monkeys and play. Roll your arms from “This Old Man”: play “Oo, oo, oo, oo, oo”.
Good Job.
This is a story from Brazil. It’s about little monkeys that play by the Rio Negro River.
They PLAY and PLAY – *all day long*.
And then the sun goes down.
And the monkeys climb up the tall palm trees. The clouds roll in. The rain starts to fall. The wind begins to blow. And it gets cold.
And those monkeys are SHIVERING. Shivering, it’s so cold. Bbbbrrrvvv.
And in the middle of the night, the Papa monkey said, “Let’s build a house tomorrow! Let’s build a house tomorrow!” And the Mama monkey said, “Yes! Let’s build a house tomorrow! Let’s build a house tomorrow!” And all the little monkeys are going “Yay! Yay! Yay!”
And in the morning, the sun comes up. The clouds roll away. And it’s another beautiful, blue-sky day.
And those monkeys climb down their palm trees.
And they play…and play.
Then one little monkey scratches her head and says, “Aren’t we going to build a house today?”
And the other monkeys say, “Oh! It’s a beautiful day…let’s build a house tomorrow.” And they play…and play…and play…
Until the sun goes down.
And they climb up their palm trees. And the clouds roll in and the rain starts to fall. And the wind begins to blow. And it’s COLD…and they’re *shivering* again. It’s cold.
Papa monkey says in the middle of the night, “Let’s build a house tomorrow.” And the Mama monkey says, “That’s good idea. Let’s build a house tomorrow.” And all the little monkeys say, “Yey! Yey! Yey!”
And in the morning, the sun comes up. And the monkeys climb down the palm trees. And it’s another beautiful, blue-sky day.
And they play…
Until one monkey scratches her head and says, “Hey! Aren’t we going to build a house today?” And the other monkeys say, “Oh, let’s build the house tomorrow! Let’s play and play and play….”
Till the sun goes down.
And they climb up their palm trees.
And the clouds roll in….and the rain starts to fall…and the wind begins to blow….and it’s cold again. Oh they’re so cold; they’re shivering.
And the Papa monkey says, “Let’s build a house tomorrow.” The Mama monkey is saying, “Let’s build a house tomorrow.” And the little monkeys are saying, “Yey! Yey! Yey!”
And in the morning…the sun comes up…they climb down the palm trees….and they play and play and play….
Until one little monkey says, “Hey, weren’t we going to build a house today?”
