Customer One: “I walked out with these things in a matter of thirty seconds.”
Customer Two: “It’s really nice; it skips a lot of time and everything.”

Amazon just opened its first grocery store in Seattle.

The store has no tills and uses cameras and sensors to track purchases.

Customer Three: “Definitely fun to walk out — without paying or talking to anybody.”

How does it work?

1. You scan a QR code on your phone as you enter the store.

2. Take your items off the shelves.

3. Walk out.

4. Amazon charges you for the items and sends you a receipt.

Customer Four: “The real test will be whether people are comfortable with the kind of tracking that it’s doing.”

Customer Four: “It will be kind of a bummer to have less human interaction. Although it seems like maybe there’s still a place where you can have a sandwich made or something, so you’ll still interact with some people.”

Customer Five: “Progress, innovation, efficiency. What’s there not to like?”
