In late June Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, took their annual vacation. This summer they decided to visit Brighton, a town by the sea in the south of England.

Mr. and Mrs. Patterson took the train there, and checked into a hotel. Their room included a small kitchen.

They then spent the day walking around town.

The following day Mr. Patterson, an avid fisherman, told his wife that he was going fishing in a rowboat and asked if she wanted to come along.

Mrs. Patterson declined.

“Are you sure?” asked Mr. Patterson. “It will be fun catching and cooking fish for dinner.”
“I’ll do the cooking; you can do the catching,” answered Mrs. Patterson. “And besides, the weather is rather cool today. I’ll go walking along the promenade, and then we can meet in the hotel lounge.”

And so Mr. Patterson rented a small boat, rowed out to sea, and began fishing.

After several hours, he met his wife in the lounge.

“How was your fishing? What did you catch?” asked Mrs. Patterson.
“I couldn’t catch anything this time,” replied Mr. Patterson. “Except this.”

He reached into his bucket, and took a discarded, styrofoam, take-out, food container.

On it was a label. It read: “Struthers’s Seafood Restaurant. We serve the best fish and chips, eel pie, clams, oysters, shrimp, crabs and lobsters in town!”
